Why use us and our charges
So let’s cut to the chase. When it comes to accountants, there tend to be two questions. How much do you charge? and why should we use you? Cue a long list of comments such as “pro-active”, “client focussed” , ”tailored service”, “20 years experience” etc, Yawn, yawn. Very simply….
We are qualified
We are qualified and ACCA regulated – this is important as if something goes wrong you have some recourse. We have to stay up to date and maintain liability insurance.
The term “Accountant” is not a protected term – anybody can call themselves an accountant. In plain terms would you trust a dentist to pull out your teeth if they had completed a 6 week course, even if they did appear cheaper than anyone else? Would you trust a pilot who had taken one flying lesson? Why would you hand your personal affairs over to someone who isn’t regulated?
Complaints take up a lot of time when reported to our governing body (well so we have heard), we have no intention of inviting any!
There are two types of tax bill – the lowest tax bill and the lowest legitimate tax bill. With us you will always receive the latter.
We don’t work for dodgy clients. We pay our taxes, we help our clients to pay their taxes when they are due. We all know the story of Bob down the pub whose accountant did lots of crazy things and he paid no tax. All well and good until it hits the fan – HMRC find out that if Bob’s accountant is dodgy, then naturally assume all Bob’s accountant’s clients must be too and they start to investigate!
We’ve seen it and had to help people fix these problems.

No one can understand and explain self-employment until they have experienced it themselves!
What do we charge?
What we can tell you is that it will be agreed in advance before we engage and there will be no unexpected bills. If things change as we go along because you get bigger or there is more work involved, this will be discussed with you before it happens, not after!
Like a plumber quoting for a bathroom, it depends on the size of the bathroom, the things you want in the bathroom and how you want it to be finished.
Are we the most expensive accountants? – no. Not by a country mile!
Are we the cheapest accountants? – also, no. There is always someone around who will be cheaper, but that takes us back to why are they cheaper? Being qualified and regulated does bring some cost but it also brings comfort. If you simply want the cheapest of the cheap and cost is the only concern then we probably aren’t suited but wish you well!
Are we the best at what we do? – We would like to think so yes. Still as we know every accountant will say that, but we will not undersell what we do as it is skilled and quality does cost more. That said we will never rip you off and there will never be that moment of baited breath where you’re waiting to know what the accountant’s bill is!
